New Japan Pro Wrestling superstar Tomoaki Honma appeared at the Block Finals of the Best of the Super Juniors Tournament at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan on Sunday announcing that fifteen months after suffering a career-threatening injury, he will be returning to the ring.

Honma, who has been training for a return, taking bumps on and off at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s gym since November, announced that he will be part of the New Japan Pro Wrestling Kizuna Road show on June 23rd in his hometown of Yamagata, Japan, issuing an Open Challenge for anyone to face Togi Makabe and himself at the event.

For those unaware of the situation, Honma suffered a cervical vertebrae injury while taking a DDT from Jado back in March 2017. The match was stopped straight away, while medical assistants attended to Honma, who was stretchered out of the ring. While Honma began to regain movement in his arms and legs days after the injury, he spent almost three and a half months in hospital as he underwent surgery and continued to recover from the injury.
