Independent wrestling promotion Northeast Wrestling applied to trademark the terms “Northeast Wrestling”, “NEW”, “Wrestling Under The Stars” and “WrestleFest” on June 18th with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) through Michael E. Dockins, who has worked with AEW stars to secure their trademarks.

It should be interesting to see where things stand on Northeast Wrestling’s application for the WrestleFest trademark, as while the company have been running events using that name since back in 1996, WWE own the trademark for videogame usage, filing a trademark back in 2011.

The description for the WWE trademark notes that it is for the following, “Video and computer game tapes, video and computer game discs, video and computer game cassettes, video and computer game cartridges, video and computer game CD-ROMS, video output game machines for use with televisions; video and computer game software; downloadable video games for use with wireless devices; interactive video game programs and computer game cartridges; interactive multimedia computer games on all platforms comprised of computer hardware and computer game software; electronic game software that involves interaction with a user interface to generate visual feedback on a video device; graphics and music via a global computer network and wireless devices.”

The filing for the same name made by Northeast Wrestling notes that it is for the following, “Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, live appearances by a professional wrestling and sports entertainment personality; Entertainment services, namely, personal appearances by a professional wrestling and sports entertainment personality; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Organizing conventions for entertainment purposes; Production of DVDs featuring professional wrestling; Production of DVDs, videotapes and television programs featuring professional wrestling; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; Providing online interviews featuring professional wrestling and sports entertainment personalities in the field of professional wrestling and sports entertainment for entertainment purposes.”

As of writing, it is unknown as to whether WWE plan to oppose, despite it being used for different services.
