The Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) promotion in Mexico announced today that Princesa Sugehit, who was originally scheduled to face Marcela for the CMLL Women’s World Championship as part of their 87th Anniversary Show on September 25th, has tested positive for COVID-19 and as a result, has been withdrawn from the event.

Princesa Sugehit won a fan vote over Dalys La Caribena and La Amapola to face off against Marcela at the event, receiving 44.73% of the vote, compared to Dalys La Caribena’s 37.73% and La Amapola’s 17.54%. Speaking in the video below, Princesa thanked everyone who voted for her, noting that she was excited to be able to challenge for the title until finding out about the COVID-19 test result, stating that she is asymptomatic and was feeling fine, but was informed of the test result this morning.

As of this writing, CMLL did not announce as to whether Marcela will defend the title against Dalys la Caribena as a result of the voting.
