Monday Night Raw comes from Dallas Texas tonight with several major items in play.
In the headline match, John Cena puts his WrestleMania match against The Rock on the line when he faces CM Punk “one more time”. While Punk has generally come out on top when facing Cena, it expected that Cena will pick up the win and face The Rock for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 29.
Vince McMahon returns to TV for the first time since Brock Lesnar gave him an F5. McMahon is scheduled to “fight” Paul Heyman tonight, which is expected to lead to the return of Brock Lesnar. Lesnar is advertised locally for the show, and will likely feature in the McMahon/Heyman angle tonight.
It is heavily rumoured that Triple H will also return tonight, coming to the rescue of McMahon if/when Lesnar gets involved in the Heyman-McMahon fight. Hunter is likely to challenge Lesnar to a rematch at WrestleMania after the pair clashed at SummerSlam 2012.
Also in play is the potential return of The Undertaker after he reappeared at a house show event over the weekend. With Taker living in Texas, many are predicting that tonight will see Undertaker return. It is not known at this point who Undertaker will defend his streak against at WrestleMania 29, tonight could set things in motion on that front.
One reason WWE have loaded this weeks edition of Raw is the absence of WWE Champion The Rock, who is not scheduled to appear tonight. Another returning star who will not be featured is Chris Jericho, who is currently on tour with Fozzy.
Less than one week removed from his arrest for allegedly driving under the influence, speeding, and possessing marijuana, it will be intriguing to see how WWE handles Jack Swagger on the show tonight. WWE are yet to address Swagger’s arrest following the SmackDown tapings, with many expecting WWE to run an angle on television before dealing with any punishment for Swagger. WWE have continued to release videos featuring Swagger on Youtube, but it will be interesting to see if he is removed from one of WrestleMania’s headline matches tonight.
Also related to Swagger, WWE will handle conservative commentator Glenn Beck turning down an “invitation” to appear on Raw from Dallas, where Beck resides. Beck offered a one-line response to the invite: “Unfortunately I am currently booked doing anything else.”
There will also be follow-up on The Shield after two impressive victories at Elimination Chamber and the following Raw. WWE are yet to indicate what role The Shield will play at WrestleMania.
Rey Mysterio is advertised for Raw. Other stars advertised include World Hvt. champion Alberto Del Rio, Big Show, Randy Orton, Sheamus, Ryback, WWE tag champions Kane & Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler & Big E. Langston & A.J. Lee, IC champion Wade Barrett, U.S. champion Antonio Cesaro, Cody Rhodes, and Layla.
