There are plans in place for former AEW World Champion CM Punk to make his return to the company, according to news first reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select.
The report notes that while nothing is set in stone, and things can change as it is an often tumultuous situation, the plan in place is for Punk to be back in time prior to or as part of the June 21st episode of AEW Dynamite in Chicago, Illinois, the final AEW Dynamite episode before AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door II.
The report adds that Punk is said to want to work with The Elite upon his AEW return, and has pushed for a meeting with them for quite awhile, however it is unclear as to whether both sides have had any contact, with another meeting planned between CM Punk and Chris Jericho, who have also had various conflicts.
Additionally, the report notes that there is traction inside Warner Bros. Discovery in regards to a new AEW show on Saturday’s, with the show leading to a “soft” brand split for the roster.
