In an interview with SmackTalk Radio Live, WWE superstar Zack Ryder commented on the development of his current character, working with Edge, his YouTube show, WWE’s opinion of it and whether he’s happy with his role in the company.

On seperating from Curt Hawkins and Edge and developing the current day Zack Ryder character, Zack noted that he was never really comfortable when he was a Major Brother or an Edgehead and when he got split in the 2009 draft, he knew he had to be different, which is why he started to wear the one-legged tights, to get attention and because he needed to be as different from Curt Hawkins, Edge and everybody as possible and be himself, a bro from Long Island.

When asked about his YouTube show and what the company originally thought of it, Zack noted that the goal for the show when he started it was to either get noticed or get fired. Zack noted that no one ever came up to him for a while and said, “hey we like what you’re doing” and no one really told him to stop doing the show, while nobody told him to continue and that he was so under the radar that the company didn’t really know he was doing it and if they did, they didn’t care enough to watch it, however if they did watch it, they weren’t telling him that they were watching it, as he got no feedback, but continued to do what he was doing.

Zack was then asked about his position within WWE and whether he’s frustrated with the role and noted that absolutely he is, but like every superstar, you can never be satisfied with your position or where you are in the business and if you get in the business, you want to be at the top and he isn’t there yet, so he’s going to be frustrated until he reaches that and when he gets there he’ll still probably be frustrated, but that’s how things work in wrestler and that’s how you get better and become the best.
