In an update on former NFL star Shawne Merriman attending the WWE Performance Center recently, Merriman was there for several days for a tryout, however as of writing, he has not been offered any deal and is not signed to a developmental deal with the company.

Merriman has expressed a desire in the past about wanting to get into the wrestling business, even so much as hyping a match against CM Punk.
