The following results are from a recent WWE SmackDown TV Taping. The taping took place at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut on March 6th, 2012 and will air on March 9th, 2012 at 8pm Eastern on the SyFy Network.
Opening Segment
It is announced at the top of the show that this week’s SmackDown is under the control of Interim WWE RAW General Manager and the Executive Vice President of Talent Relations, Mr. John Laurinaitis and that the first match of the evening is a Steel Cage Match for the United States Championship between Santino Marella and Jack Swagger.
Steel Cage Match For The WWE United States Championship
Santino Marella (c) defeated Jack Swagger. During the match Dolph Ziggler made an attempt to climb the cage and was put back down by a Cobra from Santino. The referee then ejected Ziggler from ringside. Vickie Guerrero attempted to interfere and ended up slamming the cage door in Swagger’s face giving Santino the opportunity to escape.
Backstage Segment
Teddy Long is in the back with John Laurinaitis and pleads with him to call of Kane vs. Aksana later in the night. Laurinaitis said that the match will go ahead if he beats Teddy Long later tonight.
In Ring Segment
Drew McIntyre comes out to the ring with a microphone in hand and says that John Laurinaitis gave him a chance to get his job back tonight and all he has to do is beat a mystery opponent tonight. The Great Khali comes out to the ring however David Otunga comes out and informs McIntyre that his opponent is actually Hornswoggle.
Singles Match
Drew McIntyre defeated Hornswoggle.
Singles Match
Mark Henry defeated Ezekiel Jackson.
Singles Match
Teddy Long defeated John Laurinaitis.
Tag Team Match
Kofi Kingston and R-Truth defeated Primo and Epico (w/Rosa Mendes) in a non title match.
In Ring Segment
Michael Cole comes to the ring and calls for Sheamus and Daniel Bryan to come to the ring. Bryan comes out to the ring with AJ followed by Sheamus. Cole talks to them about their match at WrestleMania XXVIII. During the interview, AJ grabs the microphone and attempts to speak, however Bryan roars at her to shut up.
6 Man Tag Team Match
Sheamus, The Big Show and Randy Orton defeated Daniel Bryan, Cody Rhodes and The Miz. Following the match, Kane attacked Orton and brawled through the crowd. Kane attempted to choke Orton and then attempted a chokeslam. Orton countered and hit an RKO to end the show.
