TNA Impact Wrestling star Tara, real name Lisa Marie Varon, was interviewed this evening by Chicago’s Game Night with Jonathan Hood on ESPN Radio.

Highlights of the interview are below:

What is the difference with TNA Wrestling 3 or 4 years ago versus the way it is headed in 2013?
Tara discussed that TNA was going more “hardcore and extreme.”  She went on to speak in terms of the female division, “TNA is very female friendly, we usually have two segments on the show.  Our boss is Dixie Carter, who is very supportive of the female division.”

Tara was then asked what it was like to work with some of the other female veterans on the roster, she mentions working with Mickie James and Gail Kim.  They ask themselves, “How do we go to the next level?  What kind of dangerous bumps can we do?  We want to do what the guys do, everyone wants to push the limit.”

Many times in wrestling, the woman is the valet or manager, but in your case Jessie is the valet.  What is your relationship with him like?
“A lot like my relationship with Stevie Richards back when I was with WWE.”  She goes on to say that Jessie is becoming a better in ring wrestler, and is improving every day.

How much longer do you want to be in the ring?
“I never say I’m going to retire.”  She thinks that too often wrestlers retire, only to come back and wrestle again.  “As long as my body and my mind can go through a match.”  Even when she no longer competes in the ring, she still has a lot to offer.  Tara would like to teach rookies, and prepare the girls; she has a lot of experience in the business.  “I’ll never be completely out of the business, I’ll be the next Mae and Moolah!”

Tara went on to promote TNA Impact Wrestling taking the show on the road, with the first stop being at the Sears Center in Hoffman Estates, IL, on March 14th.  She also has a sports bar and grill that she is opening in Chicago on March 14th, called the Squared Circle.  Tara will be hosting a party there with some TNA wrestlers the night before, on March 13th, from 6pm-9pm.

Tickets for the March 14th Impact Wrestling show go on sale this Friday, but Tara said that tickets can be purchased early by going to searscenter.com and using the code “TARA.”  A podcast of the show will be up soon on espnchicago.com and jonathanhoodshow.com.
