Ring Of Honor Wrestling owner Tony Khan took part in the pre-ROH Death Before Dishonor media call on Tuesday and discussed several topics, including the difficulties and challenges faced in booking the card for the ROH Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view on Friday night.

Khan acknowledged the posts online, and said that putting together the show for Friday was up there with last year’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view in terms of difficulty. Khan indicated that the original direction was for Claudio Castagnoli to face off against Eddie Kingston, but he gave his approval and blessing on letting Eddie Kingston travel to Japan for the G1 CLIMAX tournament, something that he felt would be great for Kingston and put him in a much better position when he returns to the company.

Khan said that they pivoted to Mark Briscoe, who was originally scheduled for something else on the pay-per-view that also had to change due to injuries, and that he had an idea of having Kingston and Briscoe have a moment together that would then help to add some emotion to Briscoe challenging Castagnoli for the ROH World Championship, however Briscoe’s injuries were worse than he ever let on, and were kept on the down-low, even from All Elite Wrestling’s own doctors who Khan noted were surprised when they arose and said that if Khan needed anything during his time off, he would do it, and that when Briscoe said that the injuries were affecting his quality of life, a change then had to be made.

Khan said that they had done a lot of pre-taped promos to help build towards the match between Castagnoli and Briscoe, however those have since been scrapped and a new opponent for Claudio Castagnoli will be announced soon.
