Triple H took place in a post WWE NXT Takeover: XXV conference last night. Adam Hopkins welcomed everyone, before noting that Triple H will be talking the card and then taking questions. HHH thanked everyone and said that it was a hell of a night and could not believe that it has been 25 Takeover shows as he watched the clips of the shows from the past and enjoyed seeing them, noting that the talent wanted to kick a** and they did.
The first caller asked about the show being a self-standing event and how much that changed the aspect of tonight’s show and whether the Target: NXT Takeover shows will continue. HHH said that it was experimental to do the Target show and that this weekend, they didn’t have a WWE event nearby, but tonight was all about the storylines and the show itself and that if you put talent in the ring and let talent do what they do and tear it up, which they did, you’ve got a great show. HHH then put over the team that did it on such short notice and thanked them and the arena, stating that it is changed for the main roster, but perfect for NXT and that the brand showed that it can stand on its own now.
The next caller asked about The Street Profits and their progress. HHH said that it is not about how long it takes for a talent to make it, as it is about getting better and getting to that next level. HHH said that Dawkins has been with them for a while and has grown, while Ford is a crazily good athlete who has not been here for too long and said that it took them a while to find their groove as a tag team, but it takes a while to find charisma as a team and he is really happy for the both of them to now be Tag Team Champions.
The next caller asked about Tommaso Ciampa’s progress, being cleared for non-contact and his return schedule. HHH said that Ciampa is cleared to do things that are not in-ring wrestling and is ahead of schedule, but will not be doing anything until he is back to 100 percent. HHH said that Ciampa has a way to go, but is ahead of schedule and chomping at the bit to get back before noting that he wanted him at the show, because he wanted him to be around it and said that it was a good call and he will be back.
The next caller asked how Triple H feels after witnessing a show like this and putting it all together. HHH said that the process of dealing with what happens and how it happened when he does it makes him go over the moments that he saw throughout the night and said that he goes back and looks at things after the fact, but also gets the feel as it goes and said that the new lighting they used tonight was tweaking it on the fly and said that as spectacular as they think it is, the talent sometimes does not see it that way, so they dissect it and look at all aspects.
The next caller asked about how good it was to be home and the Bruins being close to the Cup, to which HHH said that he liked it.
The next caller asked if he has ever seen anyone with what Matt Riddle has as a wrestler. HHH said that Riddle has a charisma about him that makes you want to watch him and said that he is fluid and has a great background in MMA which makes him different from anyone else, noting that he is not like anyone else as he is the first him. HHH said that Riddle is so new that it will be incredible to watch him grow and said that Roderick Strong, who faced Riddle, is one of those guys who people will really see how great he is after the fact, stating that he steals the show, makes people look a hell of a lot better and is an amazing pro.
The next caller asked if tonight was the greatest success to have NXT have its first stand-alone event. HHH said that you could look at it that way, but there is only so much that you can piggyback off of, noting that he has said for a while that the brand can stand on its own which they did and that tonight was the highest-grossing WWE event ever in the Webster Arena.
The next caller asked what analytics he uses to determine if the show is a success. HHH said that he looks at the crowd, the viewership, the pops, the reactions and such and doesn’t go too deep into it, as he just wants to put on an amazing event, noting that if you build it like the field of dreams, they will come.
The next caller asked about Tyler Breeze and his decision to return to NXT. HHH said that Breeze fits in the brand perfectly and always has and said that himself and Dream followed the ladder match because they are spectacular at what they do and said that it is great to see that he got to come back and show what he can do and proved that he can hang and showed that he belonged as part of the NXT roster.
The next caller asked if HHH was able to go back in time to tell a younger him that he would be in the position he is now to do the things he does with NXT, what would the younger him have said. HHH said that he would not have believed it and referenced Michael Hayes singing at his wedding and not being able to believe that neither. HHH said that he wants to put on the spectacular shows he wanted to see as a kid and it is about the passion that he has for this business as he wants to create and put people in a position to excel and make it easier for them and believes tha the talent that are there are the best in the world and he tells them that whenever he can, noting that he would put it up against any product and that tonight was to make a statement and the statement was made.
The same caller then closed things out asking how it compares to him to what he did in the ring to outside of it. HHH said that both are great, but being what he is called as Papa H to the new talent is pretty cool and he just wants to see them all succeed like he did. HHH then said that the Takeover event will be at SummerSlam in Toronto in August, while UK Takeover will be in Cardiff and that both events were booked long before they knew that anyone else was running that day (an obvious reference to All Elite Wrestling’s All Out event). HHH said that the UK Takeover event is on in the day, while other shows (another reference to AEW All Out) will air later that night.
