In an update on New Japan Pro Wrestling announcing that their contact would not air on television in the United States in 2020, effectively ending the relationship one year early, a report from Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com notes that AXS TV had lost interest in promoting a rival company (NJPW) to the company that they own (IMPACT Wrestling) and that in this case, the ratings were not an issue.

The report notes that while it is not good news for New Japan, the writing was on the wall when AXS let go of all the key people who made the New Japan deal happen when Anthem, the parent company of IMPACT Wrestling, acquired AXS TV.
