In an update on Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan reportedly purchasing the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), Corgan officially signed an agreement to purchase the company from Bruce Tharpe, according to a report from PWInsider.com who note that the deal will see Corgan purchase the name, rights and trademarks to the National Wrestling Alliance, as well as the rights and possession of the NWA Championship belt, while the deal has now been configured to include Tharpe’s position in the NWA On Demand VOD service, as well as the Paul Boesch wrestling library.

The report notes that the actual ownership of the library remains with the Boesch family, as it had while Bruce Tharpe was utilizing it, but now Billy Corgan will have the same rights and responsibilities that formerly applied to Tharpe who ends his five year ownership of the promotion after he gained control when his International Wrestling Corp, LLC sued the National Wrestling Alliance and several banner members back in 2012, alleging insurance fraud regarding the liability insurance policy that was shared among National Wrestling Alliance members

The report further notes that Tharpe’s role in the National Wrestling Alliance going forward has yet to be revealed, but all signs are that under Corgan, while all aspects of the National Wrestling Alliance will be examined, there are not expected to be any major changes made immediately and that everything is being looked upon as a long-term move and that it will be business as usual for the National Wrestling Alliance and promoters who are licensing the name through deals made with Bruce Tharpe.
