In an update on WWE superstar Shinsuke Nakamura working Pro Wrestling NOAH’s The New Year 2023 event on January 1st at the Nippon Budokan against The Great Muta, a report from Tokyo Sports has provided additional details on the negotiations.

According to the report, Pro Wrestling NOAH had Shinsuke Nakamura listed as someone that they had wanted to bring in immediately after The Great Muta (Keiji Muto) made the decision that he was going to retire, with a retirement tour planned.

The report notes that initially, the discussions between Pro Wrestling NOAH and WWE did not lead to terms being reached, however after Vince McMahon resigned as the WWE Chairman and CEO, Pro Wrestling NOAH made an attempt to continue talks with the WWE, with an agreement reached on October 26th.
