In an update on the Sonya Deville stalker case, a new court document obtained by the Tampa Bay Times features Deville recalling the details of the attempted kidnapping by Phillip A. Thomas II that took place at her home in Lutz, Florida over the weekend.

In the court petition seeking protection from Thomas, who drove from South Carolina to Florida with plans to kidnap her, Deville (real name Daria Berenato) wrote that she came face-to-face with Thomas and began yelling at him, noting that at that point she realized that Thomas was not there with the intent to rob her, but was there with the intent to hurt her, with the records noting that Thomas was holding a knife and pepper spray at the time.

Deville noted that she went to bed at around 1:15am on the night in question, however her alarm went off at around 2:41am. Deville revealed that she went to disarm the system, which was showing that a family room door was open, waking up her friend Amanda Saccomanno (aka WWE superstar Mandy Rose). Deville stated that as she was ensuring that the sliding glass door lock was secure, she looked up and on her back lanai was Thomas, which prompted her to run into Rose’s room, with the two fleeing to the garage, where they were able to get away and call the police.

When the police arrived at Deville’s home, Thomas was still in the house and was arrested. Thomas had believed that Deville was still upstairs in the house, without knowing that she and Rose had left the house and admitted that his plan was to pepper spray her and keep her hostage until she answered all of his questions.

Deville revealed that after learning of Thomas’ identity from deputies, she typed his name into her Instagram account and found hundreds of messages from his account dating back to March 2019, revealing that the nature of his messages were obsessive, suicidal and idolizing, before revealing that she saw another account, without a profile photo, that contained similar grammar and disturbingly threatening messages, including one at 12:16am on Sunday that told Deville to look outside, as he was by her pool and would kill the person in question inside the house with her. Deville revealed that other messages from that account, without a profile photo, began on July 5th, which included a message revealing her home address, with other messages from the sender threatening Deville that he would decapitate or go after her friends and relatives by name.

Deville was awarded a temporary injunction against Thomas, who is scheduled for a pre-trial this Thursday (August 20th). He remains in jail on charges of armed kidnapping, aggravated stalking and armed burglary of a dwelling as well as criminal mischief.
