In an update on the passing of former Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) superstar Brian “Axl Rotten” Knighton, a report from former TMZ reporter Ryan Satin of ProWrestlingSheet.com notes that Knighton was found dead on Thursday evening outside of a McDonalds restaurant in Baltimore, Maryland and that an overdose is suspected.

Speaking to the website, Knighton’s mother Maria Leydig said that an autospy was due today to determine Knighton’s cause of death, however she believes that her son lost his battle with his demons.

The report goes on to note that while early reports indicated that 44-year-old Knighton died of an overdose inside of a motel room, that is not accurate as Knighton was found dead in his vehicle outside of the McDonald’s restaurant and that one source stated that police told family and friends that Knighton went into cardiac arrest, but that there were no drugs or paraphernalia found in the vehicle and that the same applies for the bathrooms in the McDonald’s restaurant, while there was no room booked at the nearby motel under his name.
