In an update on the WWE’s decision to split The IIconics (Billie Kay & Peyton Royce) as a tag team, the decision goes back to Vince McMahon’s feelings regarding Royce, as well as Bianca Belair from a meeting in late July where he viewed them as the next two big names to break out as singles stars.

According to a report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, Royce is being earmarked for a singles push and this is not a case of her or Billie Kay leaving the company, noting that the company felt that they wanted to push Peyton Royce and try and go in a different direction with her, with the belief that Royce and Kay could be on separate brands in the future.

Speaking on her official Instagram account, Peyton Royce commented on the split for the duo in a storyline purpose, while also discussing that they will be going their separate ways as singles stars writing, “24 hours removed from this moment & it’s been a rough day. I’m emotionally exhausted, I’m so sad but I realize there is a silver lining. I believe everything happens as it is supposed to. @billiekaywwe & I have been the eyes in the back of each other’s heads for 5+ years. It’s time for us to make some growth as individuals. I know we can do this, it just sucks I won’t have her by my side through all of it. Thank you for bringing me so much happiness, adventure & fun. You are one in a million & you’re so incredibly talented. The whole world knows it! #IICONICS4LYF #MadDawgs”
