WWE applied to trademark the term “NXT Gold Rush” on June 9th with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
The filing for the trademark notes that it is for the following: “G & S: A show about professional wrestling; the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events rendered live and through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing wrestling news and information through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing information in the fields of sports through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing a website in the field of sports information.”
WWE NXT used the name back in 2012 when a Gold Rush Tournament took place to determine the first-ever NXT Champion. The tournament, which consisted of four WWE NXT superstars and four stars from WWE’s main roster saw Seth Rollins defeat Jinder Mahal in the finals to become the first-ever NXT Champion.
