WWE officials are currently monitoring the global situation with COVID-19 (aka Coronavirus) ahead of the WrestleMania 36 pay-per-view, with the event scheduled to take place in 5 weeks from this Sunday, with fans expected to travel from over 60 countries and numerous states across the United States, according to a report from The Tampa Bay Times.

Speaking about the situation, WWE’s Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon had the following to say, “The health and safety of not only our fan base, but also our superstars, really does come first. We don’t want to put anyone in a bad situation ever, regardless of the circumstance. Those are not risks worth taking.”

Meanwhile, WWE’s Executive Vice President of Special Events John Saboor had the following to say, “Given the number of live events that WWE does, it’s constantly monitoring global events. There are active and ongoing discussions at play internally, like there are in any sector of American business, and certainly families as a whole, so I think those will continue.”

Additionally, Rob Higgins, who is the Executive Director of the Tampa Bay Sports Commission, gave his thoughts, noting that his group are working with the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority and Tampa International Airport to ensure fan safety in the weeks leading up to WrestleMania 36 stating, “You’ve got to be nimble and you’ve got to be ready. I think we just continue to gather information as much as possible, so that we are as prepared as possible.”
