Triple H, Stephanie McMahon and Kane opened the show in the ring, with Stephanie McMahon welcoming everyone, stating that she knows that everyone is so happy to have them grace them with their presence and for those that missed the Hell in a Cell PPV, they missed a hell of a show and for those that watched on the WWE Network, they got way more than their money’s worth for $9.99 and the two Hell in a Cell matches were worth the price of admission. HHH said that it was a slightly bittersweet night with Randy Orton losing an epic Hell in a Cell match against John Cena, but then there was the man who is the future of the WWE, the standard bearer of the WWE, Mr. Money in the Bank Seth Rollins. Rollins’ music hit and he made his way to the ring with Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury. Rollins said that Dean Ambrose is finally out of his hair once and for all and said that Ambrose is no longer a thorn in his side and last night, he proved once and for all that intellect conquers every single time over unbridled mayhem perpetuated by a madman who should be institutionalized and now that he is done with Dean Ambrose, he sees on his horizon the man who soundly defeated Randy Orton at WWE Hell in a Cell and he’s moving on to John Cena. Randy Orton’s music hit and he stormed to the ring, stating that he’s sorry for breaking up the love-fest and asked if Rollins really believes that he’s the future of the company and the standard bearer and asked why he’s already heard twice tonight that he lost to John Cena at Hell in a Cell and said that maybe he lost last night because Rollins curbstomped him last week on WWE RAW and said that he was thinking of checking himself into anger management again like in 2006, but he decided against it and made a promise to himself that if The Authority didn’t handle it, then he would. Orton attacked Rollins, but was pulled off him by Noble, Mercury and Kane. HHH said that they’re not doing this tonight and yelled at him to calm down, however Orton said that he’ll calm down when Rollins is dead. HHH told Orton to relax and take the night off and when the time is right, they will deal with this and this is not the night as emotions are too high. HHH then went to talk about Hell in a Cell, however Orton hit Rollins with an RKO and left the ring as HHH looked on angry that Orton disrespected his orders.

Reigns then talked about the Hell in a Cell match between Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins, to which Reigns said that he knew it would be complete carnage and that Ambrose would bring the fight. Reigns said that Rollins is a weasel that hides behind people and that Rollins hid behind himself and Ambrose in The Shield and now he’s hiding behind Bray Wyatt and that while Rollins claims that he’s the future of the WWE, when he’s medically cleared to return, he’ll make Rollins the past.

John Cena came to the ring to address becoming the number one contender and said that last night was an epic night and it might not have been the last chapter in John Cena vs. Randy Orton, but it was one of the best as two men went through hell for an opportunity to face the beast and it was an opportunity to be the best and last night at Hell in a Cell, he beat Randy Orton and has earned an opportunity to face Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and while Lesnar sits at home thinking he’s a Champion, he’s here every night fighting like a Champion and whenever it is that Lesnar decides to come back to the WWE, he’ll have to understand that when he stands in the ring with him, Brock Lesnar will lose and every single thing he does from now on is a statement to Brock and he can check off going through a future Hall of Famer at the Hell in a Cell PPV. Cena said that if Seth Rollins is the future of the WWE, then the future isn’t tomorrow, next month or even next year and that the future goes through him, but tonight he’ll go through the future. Stephanie McMahon’s music hit and she made her way to the ring and congratulated Cena on his victory and said that she can’t wait for the main event tonight, but she also can’t wait for Survivor Series, where they will see a traditional tag team elimination match for the low, low price on the WWE Network of $9.99. Stephanie said that she has a business proposition for Cena and that Cena works so hard to win the people over, yet he panders to them to get them to cheer him and Cena doesn’t have to do this. Cena said that he listens to the people, which is something that she should do, however Stephanie asked him if he listens to when they say Cena Sucks as she can hear that and her point is to not upset or offend him and she wants him to do what’s best for business and said that one arena chanting his name doesn’t make a difference and the people don’t matter and what they care about is seeing Cena on the mat, tearing himself apart and leaving it all on the line and that he does that every night, but for what, the crowd’s appreciation and that Cena could join The Authority and come to a place where he’ll be loved, appreciated and respected and they care about what Cena does. Stephanie said that Cena is going to face Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, a man that has handily beaten Cena time and time again and has left Cena’s carcass lying to the people cheering and The Authority could offer some insurance and maybe they could help guarantee a victory and told him to think about it and maybe the winner of his match against Rollins can be the captain of Team Authority and they could give him the power that he desperately deserves and that Cena deserves the accolades and respect and deserves to be part of a family. Cena said that all he deserves is to come down the ramp and tell the fans how much he loves that and that Stephanie claims that the people want to see him beat up, but his fans show up to WWE live every week because they’re all a part of this and said that the crowd isn’t here for him, he’s here for them and that Stephanie is asking him to sell out and turn his back. Stephanie said that she’s asking him to ensure his legacy and when Cena loses and is gone, the people won’t care and they won’t even remember John Cena, but they can make sure he does. Cena said that they’ll remember him as a lowlife, sellout punk and that is something he’ll never be, so his answer is no. HHH’s music hit and he came to the ring and told Stephanie this would happen and that Cena would continue to play the hero and that Cena has been here for numerous years, but he’s been here for 20 and it gets harder every single year and that Cena is starting to eek by every single night and is hanging on by a thread, physically and mentally, because Cena knows what he knows, Cena can’t fight the future and it’s coming whether Cena wants to believe it or not and it doesn’t have to be as hard as it is for Cena right now, or as hard as it will get as this business is about longevity and doing the right thing over time and either that, or Cena can be the beat-up old shell of himself that comes in for one last hurrah, but that doesn’t suit Cena because he’s a really smart guy and said that maybe he has to prove to Cena that he can’t stop the future and told Cena to have it his way and work against The Authority, because at Survivor Series, Cena will need to find people to stand up to the system as it will be Team Cena vs. Team Authority.

Bray appeared on the titantron and said that he understands, because he came from it too and everytime he looks at Ambrose, he can’t help but see his own deranged reflection staring back at him and that they’re both victims of a system that torture men and things that make others grimace excite people like them and this world is not made for them.
