The 2020 WWE Tribute to the Troops event will air on December 6th on FOX, adjacent to Sunday’s regional NFL broadcasts, according to a report from Ryan Satin of FOX Sports.
The report notes that for viewers with an NFL matchup airing at 1pm Eastern can watch WWE Tribute to the Troops at 4:30pm Eastern, while viewers with an NFL matchup airing at 4:05pm Eastern on the other hand can watch the special at 3pm Eastern.
The event, which will take place inside the WWE ThunderDome at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida will include servicemen and women from all over the United States with their families, including troops from the Marine Corps Air Station New River in North Carolina, the USA Army Post Ford Hood in Texas, the U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74), Naval Air Station Fallon in Nevada and Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake in Ridgecrest, California.
Speaking about the show, WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon had the following to say, “This is a unique time and we look forward to providing our troops and their families with an interactive experience that only WWE can deliver as we celebrate our servicemen and women with millions of our fans watching at home on FOX.”
FOX Sports’ Chief Executive Officer and Executive Producer Eric Shanks commented on the show airing on FOX stating, “Supporting the United States military year-round is an essential part of FOX Sports’ mission and partnering with WWE on their Tribute to the Troops is an incredible extension of this ongoing commitment.”
The report notes that in addition to the annual event, WWE will be hosting virtual meet and greet sessions with WWE Superstars and military members as a way of paying back for their sacrifices, while the announcement on celebrities to make an appearance in some form at the event will be made in the coming weeks.
