Io Shirai, who works for the STARDOM promotion in Japan and is considered one of the biggest women’s wrestlers in the country, has accepted an offer from the WWE to join the company, according to a report from Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com.

The report notes that 27-year-old Shirai had previously attended a WWE Performance Center tryout back in March, however WWE quickly removed all mentions of her in an accompanying article.

Shirai will join Kairi Hojo as another name departing the STARDOM promotion for WWE. Hojo announced her departure from STARDOM earlier this month and it is expected that she will begin at the WWE Performance Center soon, however as of now, there is no start date for Shirai to come in.

There is however, a belief that Shirai and Hojo may be part of the upcoming WWE Women’s Tournament which will begin taping in July. WWE are currently locking in several names to prevent them from accepting independent bookings on the date of the tapings and are reportedly said to be interested in former TNA Knockouts Marti Belle and Jade (Mia Yim).
